Charlene Banks is a Southern California native who is a self-taught Protective Stylist. She started doing braids in the San Diego area at the age of 16 after suffering a severe chemical burn from a chemical relaxer. She took a long hiatus from her craft as her corporate career opened various opportunities and relocation's across North America. The passion for creativity and beauty didn't suppress and in 2016, Charlene started her beauty and hair business, Be’YoutyByChar.

 

Since the start of Be'YoutyByChar, hair and beauty have been a full-fledged priority for Charlene. With clients in the Tri-State area helping her dream take flight, Be’YoutyByChar grew to become a Bi-Coastal business. In Fall of 2017 , Be’YoutyByChar joined a Los Angeles Glam Management Company, called Full-set Creative. This joint venture will allow for Be’YoutyByChar to also book for business events in addition to servicing personal clients.

Her creativity thrives even in her down time. Whether it be further honing her skills with protective styles or tightening her cosmetic service techniques . Charlene believes that both progress and growth are keys to long term success and expansion.  In October of 2016, Charlene also became a certified Microblading Technician.  She was able to offer Microblading Brow services under her Beauty Brand.

 

Charlene is also a sketcher and painter. She has participated in fairs as a face painter and has shared her art talents on murals across San Diego School District since the age of 12. For her, doing hair and Semi-Permanent Make-up was the obvious way to combine both her skill of art and her passion for hair and beauty.

 She expresses her gratitude to all that have supported in this endeavor and encourages everyone to believe in their talents, as following your passion is the true road to Happiness.
